Writers Romance in New York
New York is a city that is well
known for its skyscrapers, its attitude and economic power. However the Big
Apple is worth so much more! Surprisingly it is the ‘Mecca’ for writers,
thinkers and artists from all over the world.

John Grisham, David Baldacci , Catherine Lacey, Ben Lerner and many more adding to the list of
writers.
Moreover, some of the most important decisions are made in the within the thousands of towering, glowing skyscrapers and the buildings that engulf the area. New York is a city and a mega city it is, because besides just its five boroughs -Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Staten Island this city has other cities- Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, with the state capital being Albany.
In pursuit of expression, right
from the 19th century we have not only the struggling but also the aspiring
writers present.
New York has just got something
about it that writers love to identify with, romanticize with but then leave.
It does have its iconography and the problem with places that are so iconic is
that everyone grafts their identities onto the image personified of that city.
They borrow that familiar
dimension until they find their own and use it as a sense of human entity. How
ridiculously harmful this is for our human psychology when we are constantly
putting ourselves down and never, ever accepting ourselves for who we are or
JUST living in the moment. Isn’t that also important – to be who we are, a part
of what I few I have learnt is mindfulness.
This city of five boroughs has
promises of friendships and esteemed connections with possibilities’ of
publications as well as notoriety of their work.
Remember Moby Dick (also known as the Whale)
by Herman Melville, a classic novel even perhaps even a skilled reader has had
a challenge reading-well that was Published right here in New York in 1851.
You know what? It was actually a
commercial failure and was even out of print at the time of the author's death
in 1891!
However, during the 20th century,
its reputation as a Great American Novel was established.
Walt Whitman-an American poet,
essayist, and journalist known for his works such as Leaves of Grass and, along
with Emily Dickinson, is considered one of the architects of a uniquely
American poetic voice. Scott Fitzgerald-the author of The Great Gatsby and The Curious
Case of Benjamin Button and Harper Lee’s ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’.
Considering todays current time
you have Dan Brown, Dede Cummings,
There are so
many struggling writers and other people
who I have seen trying to make a nich for themselves in this city but all I
ever see is a fortunate few (who are also struggling) to make their own lives
stepping over homeless people on their way to work or rushing past them in the
subways via transit.
Life is so much
more than a whole bunch of endless parties, bars and night life. At the end we
need to pull the strings of “our lives together” in the right way! New York is
indeed the financial capital of the world and houses some of the world’s
leading financial centres here and companies such as NYSE-The New York Stock
Exchange and NASDAQ.
Notable
companies such as AOL, BlackRock, Bloomberg, Bloomingdales, Calvin Klein,
Colgate-Palmolive, Conde Nast Publications, Deutsch Bank,
Foot Locker, Goldman Sachs, Harper Collins, HBO, Macy’s, Michael Kors, Morgan
Stanley, Thomson Reuters, Warner Music
Group and so many more.

The whole point
is, there has been a tremendous amount of change in the front of digital, print and for readers. What was once
considered a tradition is confused with a mission and now we must try to figure
out what kind of values we want to abide by when writing.
Ambitions
across the world, not oly in New York have peaked; everywhere people are brutal
to mediocrity. We live in a time where its an information overload –Twitter,
Facebook, Reddit, Whatsapp, WeChat, LinkedIn, SnapChat, etc.
It is a city that is home for
travellers, traveller of all types – and is home to people belonging to many
different cultures. It is considered impossible for somebody to visit every
single place in New York City.
Despite this, the city always
remains awake 24/7, waiting to welcome new people and to enthrall them by its
glory. Which other city can offer a better welcome then New York City’s Statue
of Liberty’s lighting the way with a torch. Not only is it a great source of
pride for our country, but it is also a representation of what we believe in –
peace, liberty and justice for all.
You can just enter into a local
Starbucks and come across people from a dozen different backgrounds, hearing diverse
languages at the same time. You can also hear English being spoken at the same
time and that too in many different accents!! New York has got a large
population, but despite its huge population you will never feel lonely. This is
because you always see people around you and the possibility that they may be
facing a worse situation.
Another important feature about
this city is that many world-renowned events such as The Macy’s Day Parade,
during Thanksgiving to the time that the ball drops at New Years Eve in Times
Square. Besides all of this the energy level in the city is exhilarating.
Moreover, some of the most important decisions are made in the within the
thousands of towering, glowing skyscrapers and the buildings that engulf the
area.
