Why Hrithik Roshan's Movie is Making Heads Turn Across the Globe

After having been in the Bollywood arena for quite some time, Hrithik Roshan made his debut in the Marathi film industry with the film Hryuantaar. This film was right after the Bollywood film, Kaabil which was released in 2017; and now he’s back again with another Bollywood film, but this time with national award director Vikas Bahl with whom he has never worked with.

Unlike any of the other movies that he has been associated with, here Hrithik is not at all portrayed as the typical ‘Bollywood hero’ saga.

He is seen in a biopic of mathematician Anand Kumar who is an educationist and is best known for his Super 30 programme which he had started in Patna, Bihar in 2002 where he coaches underprivileged children to appear for IIT-JEE – the entrance exam for the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).

Not at all an easy task to do, you can see how much of an effort Hrithik has put in by toning down his physique and muscular look. Every little aspect was practiced and worked upon transforming him into a rustic Bihari man: practicing Anand’s eating habits, walking style, way of speaking -learning Bhojpuri and speaking Hindi in a Bihari accent.

This was not all! Hrithik has to let down his usual guard of ‘western sophistication’ which he has held onto for most of his life to dive into this character. Hrithik was so involved into Anand’s character he used to practice speaking Bihari for 2-3 hours each day; but I guess this is the kind of dedication you need, right!

A film, which is written by Sanjeev Dutta, who is known for having written the dialogues for films such as Barfi, Kites Life in a Metro and Page 3. The film also stars actors Mrunal Thakur as Supriya -Anand Kumar's love interest who plays another central role in the movie.

The other actors include Pankaj Tripathi as the education minister  -Devraj Jagan Safdurjang, Virendra Saxena Rajendra Kumar as Anand Kumar's father and Aditya Shrivastava -as Lallan Singh (CEO of Excellence Coaching, Arch Rival of Anand Kumar.

Although Anand hails from Patna – Bihar this film was shot at Ramnagar Fort in Varanasi near the Ganga river -opposite to the Tulsi Ghat. Part of the fort was converted to look just like the Super 30 institute. During a span of 10 days, the film was also shot in Sambhar Lake Town, which is a village, and a municipality in Jaipur; which was shown as Kota, Rajasthan and Jaipur.

For this, a set was erected in Mumbai at a whopping cost of INR 10 Crore just to recreate Patna city of Bihar to facilitate shooting. During the second schedule of shooting (for Varanasi) the film was shot at the actual Banaras Hindu University (formerly Central Hindu College in Varanasi). In fact, this is the first Hindi film that the University has allowed film shooting to take place at.

One important scene from the film had Anand Kumar scolding his students when they were losing focus on the problem and the solution was right there in front of them.

“You got distracted,” he tells them. Instead they chose to look elsewhere. This is the story of “Super 30”.

Every minute detail has been payed attention to for all the characters.
Whether it is Anand’s brother – Pranav Kumar played by Nandish Singh, Anand’s father –Rajendra Kumar played by Virendra Saxena, Anand Kumar’s love interest –Supriya played by Mrunal Thakur or even Raghunath – the to all the other characters and especially to the children who appeared in the Super 30 –educational program in the movie precision is taken everywhere to make sure this biopic is as convincing as possible.

Here is a snippet of lasting for 4-minute-long video that has glimpses of the actor's preparations with a dialect coach, who also taught him the body language of Anand Kumar. Hrithik says he used to practice speaking in Bihari for 2-3 hours each day. He also sang Madhuri Dixit's Dhak Dhak song in a Bihari accent.

This video starts with Hrithik trying to sing the hit song Lagavelu Jab Lipistick as someone tries to teach him to pronounce the words the right way. "The very first sacrifice I had to make was to allow myself to look out of shape. I love the Bihari accent as it has got a beautiful blend of the strong and the vulnerable," Hrithik says in the voiceover.

Amit Sadh OPENS UP about his role in Hrithik Roshan’s SUPER 30in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama. He talks about Indian politics and how soldiers are dragged into every agenda and their goodwill is misused. He also opens up about his role in Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30.

In fact, before the release of the film many people predicted it would be a success and one such person was trade analyst Girish Johar who said “The buzz is very good ever since the launch of the trailer. Quality of content matters a lot these days and Hrithik is coming after two years so all his fans are waiting for the film. The early reports coming in are also positive. Unlike Hrithik’s earlier films which have action, song and dance, it is not a commercial mass-entertainer but surely promises quality content.”

He had predicted that film opening would be approximately INR 12 Crore at the back of Hritik’s star power. It was produced by Phantom Films and is also the last film under the film production and distribution company.

Although many people have found many loopholes throughout the film, it is beyond brilliant to see how much of hard work and effort has gone in the making of this film. Some movies and actors leave behind imprints which are hard to forget and that's just what I think Super 30 and Hrithik Roshan has left for me!

Karina Pandya in Conversation with Co-Founder of the Banyan, Dr. Vandana Gopikumar

An incident of coming across a homeless and mentally ill woman in distress on the road in front of her college in Chennai paved the route for Vandana Gopikumar to establish one of the leading NGOs in the field of mental health – The Banyan. While she was yet a Master’s student of Social Work, Vandana along with a close friend Vaishnavi Jayakumar encountered several other incidents of not being able to find the right shelter and mental institution for a woman in need of medical and psychiatric attention.     The Banyan, which was established in 1993 has been a one-stop destination to not only rescue, and rehabilitate but also treat mentally ill women from low-income groups. Vandana Gopikumar has pioneered a movement, helping thousands of individuals not only reintegrate into society but also secure long-term medical treatment.    Not only is she the co-founder of the NGO – The Banyan, but is also the co-founder of The Banyan Academy of Leadership (BALM). NGO Meet Becomes a Fulcrum of Mutual Help

“There is no better way to thank God for your sight than by giving a helping hand to someone in the dark.”  --Helen Keller   There are numerous social causes which would remain otherwise ignored if it were not for the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) contributing to the cause. January 6th, Saturday saw the coming together of 25-30 NGOs to provide a single platform for mutual help and support. It was organised by the founder trustee of Karmayog – Vinay Somani to discuss strategic planning for social and civic causes.          A Buffet of Purposes: Maybe You're Lost, Maybe You Aren’t. A Boutique Passport to New York

New York, the city that NEVER sleeps is one of the most sought-after hotspots for fashionistas across the world.     With astonishingly tall buildings which rise up to a couple of thousand feet in the air, creating a beautiful New York Skyline, New York is home to some of the most popular brands across the world such as Macy’s, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Burberry, Valentino, Kate Spade, Fendi, Coach, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Huckberry, Nordstrom NYC and many others there are plenty of innovative retailers and retail trends to choose from. However, New York has not always been the fashion capital of the world.  Paris, Milan and London have always been known worldwide for the most influential fashion trend. New only emerged as a fashion capital post World War II when New York’s garment district became a vanguard of a different type.      There were designers in New York who challenged the Parisian couture by introducing sportswear into the high fashion world in the 194 0s and 1950s.
