Icon Business Forum's 'The Outsiders Film Festival'

If you are an aspiring filmmaker, director, producer, screenwriter or actor; the OUTSIDERS FILM festival is where you should have been this Wednesday – the 22nd of November, 2023. 

With an ensemble of 8 short- films; writer- Tarun Agarwal, under his prolific start-up company Icon Business Forum, organised this initiative along with director- Param Kalra at The Veda Factory, Andheri. The event was anchored by a content creator and influencer, Chandni Somaya. 

With Tarun Agarwal’s short film 'Honesty Weds Dishonesty' starting off the event, the event soon became a crowd-puller as many notable film-makers such as Sangeeta Babani, Vinita Nanda, Amit Be Nandita Puri, National Award-winning director -Iqbal Niyazi, Param Kalra and Tarun Agarwal screened their films. 

The short films included Honesty Weds Dishonesty, Dhuaan, Khidkiyaan, Happy Got Lucky, Favourite Chai, Mulaqat, CH20 and Alfaaz.

Besides this, there were 3 trailers that were also shown.  The event was ensued by many 

talks such as Anusha Srinivas Iyer, Rahul Kapoor, Teena Kaur, Manveer Gurjar, Amit Behl, Vinod Pande, Nandita Puri and J Brandon Hill, etc. 

The event was held at a Mumbai-based creative space for artists where they can explore and experiment with their art forms – ‘Veda Factory’ in Andheri. Hoping for many more such events in the future, film festivals are becoming more and more of a hot spot for talented folk.

4 Mindfully Spent Days At Woods At Sasan for a Writing Retreat with Bhavna Kher

Writing has been my passion for over 18 years so when I heard about the Writing Retreat that screenwriter, brand consultant and former creative director of Ogilvy - Bhavna Kher was going to conduct I was immediately interested in attending the same.     Not only this but I also wanted to connect with other writers and also sharpen my writing skills as well. It was a perfect opportunity to find inspiration within a focused environment.  Moreover, the 4-day writing retreat, (September 14- September 18th) which was conducted at a luxury boutique resort provided the perfect break from city life, and mindfully focused on sharpening one’s writing skills.  Having our independent quarters, we were surrounded by thickets of trees, within a lush mango orchard on the fringes of the Sasan Gir forest. Habitat – My First Performance Venue

In 2016, although I had written extensively, I had never actually performed open-mic poetry. Writing had always been my primary form of expression, with speaking coming second. So, when I decided to take the stage for my first performance at The Habitat in Khar, I was nervous, especially doing it alone. I wanted to build my confidence, and this seemed like the only way to do it. Coincidentally, 2016 was also the year The Habitat was founded. It became the place where I made my debut as an artist. The Habitat quickly became a safe space where I forged friendships with fellow poets and artists. I still remember the moment that turned my life around—stepping onto that dimly lit stage, microphone in hand.
