The Idea of You review – Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine spark in crowd-pleasing romcom

 


Premiering at its world premiere at SXSW (South by Southweston March 16, 2024, The Idea of You was launched on Prime Video on May 2nd, 2024; The Idea of You is a crowd-pleasing rom-con following the life of a love affair between a 40-year-old single mother (Hathaway) and a 24-year-old lead singer (Galitzine) of a popular boy band- August Moon. 

Based on the novel of the same name by Robinne Lee, the film is directed by Michael Showalter, and starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine. It is produced by Cathy SchulmanGabrielle Union,  Anne Hathaway, Robinne Lee, Eric Hayes, Michael Showalter and Jordana Mollick. 

Predominantly shot in Georgia in the late 2022s, the film contains originally composed and written songs by Savan Kotecha. The story traces the story of Solène Marchand (Anne Hathaway), a divorced art gallery owner living in Los Angeles as she goes on a solo camping trip while her ex-husband Daniel takes their teenage daughter Izzy and her friends to Coachella. Daniel, however, is called (last-minute) back to work, leaving Solene at the mercy of taking her daughter and her friends to forgo camping and accompany them to a music festival. 


Organised by their father, the teens have a meet and greet with the boy band August Moon. Solene happens to have an encounter with Hayes Campbell (lead singer of August Moon) and they flirt a bit in the VIP area. What follows is a secret love affair between the two. From flying down for an adventure-filled getaway in New York City the movie is already topping the limelight as one of the most popular films to watch at the moment!

The film has record-breaking trailer views owing to its chart-topping soundtrack. The film has been having a smashing success due to stars Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, the brilliant vision of Michael Showalter, and the rest of the enormously talented cast and filmmaking team. ‘Closer’ the title track is soaring high on the song lists – ON REPEAT! This film deserves all the credit that it is getting and deserves to be seen!
