‘A Perfect Pairing’ Review: Victoria Justice and Adam Demos Blend Sweet, Smoky Tasting Notes Into A Light-Bodied Rom-Com
Although she initially signed up for an Airbnb accommodation, she gets turned down by Hazel Vaughn (Samantha Tolj). However, as she realises that they are short of a hired hand, she volunteers to work on the client's sheep farm under station boss Max to prove her worth. While at the farm, she starts to bond with her reluctant guide and station master – Max (Adam Demos) whom she ultimately falls in love with.
This movie follows the formula to a T, including familiar story elements. The movie is truly escapism at its best with a scenic Australian backdrop and a cosy small-town feel.
There are many moments throughout the film which are heart-warming such as when Lola and Max go for a swim together, Lola poking fun at the Aussie for his use of reciting inspirational quotes, when Max saves Lola from a snake and a little tour of the family's stunning wine cellar. However, there is little to no chemistry between the two actors as you can sense the romantic tension in the air; when they don’t get along. However, there is a natural dynamic between the two actors.
Lola’s spark for ambition makes this film very watchable as it shows her zest to not let defeat cross her path who never quits. The movie is more of a cookie-cutter rom-com that has been designed to give you all the feels of a rom-com. The movie is watchable for its gorgeous setting and the charm of Victoria Justice.
The movie which is a Netflix original film was released on May 19th, 2022 under the production houses DAE Light Media, Front Row Films and Hoodlum Entertainment.
Moreover, Victoria sings an authentic song entitled Home adding to the charm of the movie. The film was filmed in Australia — specifically, in Numinbah Valley, a valley and suburb located within Queensland's Gold Coast. What is unlike other films is the occasional sheep and kangaroo baa-ing or hopping into the frame.
