Helly Shah is an Indian spoken-word artist who has been making ears perk up and heads turn with her crisp, relatable, and soul-soothing content. Her poetry revolves around modern relationships, friendships, growing up in your twenties, gender expectations, loneliness, nostalgia, and identity. She gained immense popularity through her collaborations with Unerase Poetry and has now become a widely recognised voice in the spoken-word scene. Some of her most loved pieces include Dosti Ki Breakup, What Society Says No to Men, Mujhe Abhi Shaadi Nahi Karni, 25 & Single, and Marriage Material. She has shared the stage with artists such as Priya Malik, Yahya Bootwala, Amandeep Singh, and Nidhi Narwal. Calling herself an “accidental writer,” Helly draws inspiration from books, conversations, and her observations of people and everyday life. She has also performed at events such as YouTube FanFest and NH7 Weekender. Her performances, usually delivered in Hinglish or English, feel natural, conversational, comforting, and deeply personal. Her work can easily be discovered through YouTube performances, Instagram poetry clips, live storytelling tours across Indian cities, and collaborations with Unerase Poetry. Some of the recurring themes in her work include relationships and dating, friendships, feminism, social conditioning, and the quarter-life crisis — subjects that strongly resonate with Gen Z audiences and urban Indian millennials. Continuing her India tour, Helly Shah — who has already performed in cities such as Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, and Pune since April — is making her final stop today in Mumbai. This show is especially significant as she has already completed over 30 performances of her special 25 & Single across India, along with a remarkable off-Broadway debut in New York City. Marriage Material is a humorous storytelling and poetry experience centred around modern love, dating, and the race against time to find the “right” partner.

In 2016, although I had written extensively, I had never actually performed open-mic poetry. Writing had always been my primary form of expression, with speaking coming second. So, when I decided to take the stage for my first performance at The Habitat in Khar, I was nervous, especially doing it alone. South Mumbai Residents Threaten Legal Action Over Proposed VVIP Jetty Near Gateway of India

Time is running out. At least, this is what the protestors who gathered at a public meeting at Real Party Hall at Colaba Arthur Bunder Road at 4 PM on Saturday, April 5 th , 2025, believe. The skyline of Colaba was built over time – stone by stone and voice by voice.   It is this very same skyline which is at threat owing to the danger of the construction of the newly proposed passenger jetty being constructed near Radio Club which will affect the flow of traffic, especially near the Radio Club stretch and the iconic view of the Gateway of India.   To voice their opposition, residents have launched an online petition against the project garnering over 3,000 signatures.
