The Fun Gen Z World Vs My Times - The Millenial Generation
Also known as the trial version of modern adulthood, millennials — the generation I proudly belong to — genuinely feel like the best generation by far. We were raised in the chaos of the early internet, where there was zero supervision, one family computer shared between siblings, pop-up ads attacking us every four seconds, and an unshakable confidence that everything we did online was absolutely correct. It was a strange, beautiful time.
The internet back then was wildly different from what it is today. If we missed one episode of our favourite TV show, that was it — gone forever unless someone miraculously recorded it on a CD or knew a cousin with cable. There were no streaming platforms, no “watch later” options, and definitely no rewinding emotional scenes to post screenshots online.
Today’s Gen Z generation can stream entire seasons overnight, fast-forward boring parts, rewind dramatic moments, and curate their feeds so perfectly that even their breakdowns look cinematic. Aren’t they lucky?
They are a generation of youngsters who are forever tired - suffering from 'chronic fatigure' and over worrying about the vibe and their mental health. However the only burnour they really suffer from is a digital burnout, growing up in this hyper connected world.
Millennials, survived and continue to survive with pure instinct. We posted dramatic song lyrics as Facebook statuses, uploaded blurry selfies taken from impossible angles, and had vague emotional meltdowns without announcing that we were “healing” or “setting boundaries.” We simply disappeared for two days, changed our MSN status to “Don’t text,” and returned as if nothing had happened. Somehow, we survived.D players (discmans) and we treasured them all. I used to remember those days when i made my first play list, but now in today's times they are created within no time.
Gen Z's lives in what feels like a GPS-guided emotional world. Every feeling has a label, every inconvenience becomes a trigger, and every argument turns into a discussion about mental health and personal growth.
While millennials simply called it panic, Gen Z says things like, “I’m protecting my peace,” or “I no longer align with this energy.” Honestly, half the time we don’t even know whether they’re ending a friendship or launching a wellness podcast.
Their fashion sense is another mystery entirely. Millennials had their own questionable style era — neon tops, side bangs, giant belts, and skinny jeans we practically vacuum-sealed ourselves into.
Gen Z’s though, has taken fashion experimentation to another level. Oversized hoodies, baggy jeans, sweaters in the middle of summer, vests for absolutely no reason, and belts hanging from shirts as decorative emotional support accessories — somehow they make confusion look trendy. They dress like a mix between a 90s rapper, a Pinterest board, and someone who accidentally got locked inside a thrift store overnight.
Even social interactions have changed. Millennials grew up awkwardly calling landlines and praying nobody’s parents answered. Gen Z, meanwhile, can flirt entirely through memes, eye-roll emojis, and TikTok reposts. They can end relationships without saying a single word — just by removing someone from their “Close Friends” story. It’s honestly impressive and terrifying at the same time!
And yet, despite all the teasing, Gen Z is undeniably entertaining. They are confident, expressive, socially aware, and somehow capable of turning anything literally into some form of content.
They can make coffee-making look philosophical and grocery shopping look like a cinematic trailer. They speak in trends, communicate in abbreviations, and somehow know every new song before the artist even releases it.
Maybe every generation believes theirs was the best. Millennials think we had the perfect balance — childhood without screens controlling our lives, but enough internet to witness the birth of memes, gaming, and social media. Gen Z, meanwhile, grew up in a world where everything is faster, louder, and permanently online.
Still, no matter how different the generations are, one thing remains true: every generation is equally confused, just in different fonts and styles.
Millennials hid their chaos behind song lyrics and Tumblr quotes, while Gen Z hides theirs behind aesthetic reels and therapy vocabulary. Deep down, we’re all just trying to survive adulthood — one Wi-Fi connection at a time.
However, somehow I’m happy Im not a Gen-Z!
