Karina Pandya gets candid with Beenaa Advani
Q1: What motivated you to take on the role of co-founder?
It didn’t begin as something big—it began with a simple intention to make a small difference. When we started with just 18 children, none of us imagined it would grow into what it is today. But somewhere along the journey, I realised this wasn’t just an initiative—it was a responsibility.
Q2: Can you walk us through your journey over the past 15 years?
It has been a journey of growth—not just for the children, but for all of us involved. From one centre to many, every step has been filled with learning, gratitude, and deep connection.
Q3: Was there a defining moment?
There wasn’t just one moment—it was a series of small, meaningful moments that deepened my commitment.
Q4: How do you bring your business skills into the foundation?
I have always believed in being quiet and firm—it naturally communicates that I mean business without having to raise my voice. I focus on listening deeply and allowing people to feel heard and respected.
Q5: Why is philanthropy important to you?
Philanthropy is about sharing responsibility and creating meaningful impact together.
Q6: What draws you to children’s education?
Education creates a ripple effect—it changes not just one life but entire families.
Q7: What gap were you trying to address?
The gap of confidence, exposure, and belief.
Q8: How do you define impact?
When a child starts believing in themselves.
Q9: What challenges do children face?
Lack of resources and consistent support systems.
Q10: How do you manage volunteers?
We nurture them rather than manage them.
Q11: What does being a co-founder mean to you?
It means responsibility and gratitude.
Q12: What are your goals for the next 5–10 years?
To deepen impact and strengthen communities.
Q13: How can people contribute?
Through time, skills, or support.
Q14: What advice would you give to others?
Start small, stay consistent.
Q15: What keeps you motivated even on difficult days?
For the past 14 years, the feeling has remained the same every time I visit a centre. There is a deep sense of gratitude—volunteers thank us for starting Angel Express, and we thank them for being a part of it. It’s a beautiful feeling that we all share, and that is what keeps me going.
